Put it this way: As Jill from Feministe just said on Twitter, “Sandra Bullock seems like a very nice lady. However. I am tired of White Lady Saves the Day, The Movie. “
I saw it expecting it to be White Lady Saves the Day, but it was actually a lot better than I was expecting. And Sandra Bullock legit did a good job, which is not to say she deserves to beat out these other actresses, but still….
I was disappointed, but that speech was just super classy and kinda made me cry… and I refuse to see this movie (white woman as savior is played the f out)… also, when she started saying “there is no color, no creed, no sexual orientation,” etc., I totally thought she was going to go all “colorblind” on us, but then she didn’t (finishing with “more deserving” or whatever it was that she said). So, that wasn’t as bad as I thought it was gonna be.

OK, her opening line was funny.

And now she’s being classy and shit.

Some small consolation, I guess. Still disappointed.

yes on both counts. her opener was endearing and acknowledging the other actors is admirable.

whole speech has been good

Seriously?? What a crock.

Aw but she shouts out to Gabby right off the bat plus all the others. That was classy.

I think she knows she doesn’t deserve it. And for that alone I continue to love her (despite her shitty movie choices).

Oh, I like *her*, I just think she’s vastly outclassed in this category, that’s all.

I’m disappointed.

I know, I like Sandra, but my heart still sank.

And now there’s crying!

I haven’t seen this movie, so I have to ask if she was any good? And was the movie? The movie commercials just looked so hokey to me.

That’s what I thought, but I’d been so confused by all the love for it from people I thought ought to know better.

I’m pissed off. Sandra Bullock is nice enough but what kinda stretch is it for an actress to play the rich white woman who saves the poor black kid?
snarkysmachine 4:55 am on March 8, 2010 Permalink |
seriously. She seemed geniune. She’s not *that* great an actress.
